Follow & Go
Gail spoke on the Great Commission at the end of the Gospel
of Matthew on Sunday. In it Jesus charges his disciples to go, make disciples of all nations, teaching obedience to
Jesus' commands. How do we carry out this comission on a day to day basis? What does our own discipleship
look like? Trusting in Jesus' teaching, can we find the courage to follow where he leads? It is easy to become
absrobed in our daily routines and forget to spend time in communion with God. Seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit
would surely help my following. As we grow in our relationships with God and one another our following can grow as well.
It takes time and care and attention to build all our relationships. Learning to love as God loves does not exactly come
naturally. In Gail's talk she spoke of evangelizing as including others. I especially liked that definition.
Where and how can I include others in the love God has given to all of us? Gail also observed that we cannot wait until
we have everything all figured out internally before setting out to follow Jesus. We have Jesus' assurance
of authority and presence with us at every moment. Let us follow and go where God leads. Live in the peace and
assurance of Christ always. Amen.

Jesus loves the little children
9:53 am est
The children and youth presented our worship service this past
Sunday (with help from a few). What joy they bring with their precocious, wide open minds and hearts. We who are
older envy their amazing energy. They get out to the playground at every opportunity. We have been very
blessed with warm, sunny weather in recent days so opportunities abound. School will be out by the end of this
week and summer activities beckon. We thank God for the joy and delight that the children bring to life. May we
find some of that joy as we travel through our days and weeks. The peace of Christ be wih you all. Amen.

Spirit Make Us One
9:52 am est
Sunday was Pentecost and we celebrated God's sending the Holy
Spirit to Jesus' disciples gathered in Jerusalem. With the sound as of a mighty wind and the appearance as of
flames of fire above each disciple, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues. There were
many in the city from other lands who were amazed to hear God's word spoken for their understanding. Pastor Gail
expressed it as, sense being made of the cacaphony of voices. "Spirit make us one" was a phrase in the
anthem and I have been meditating on the meaning of one on and off since Sunday. What do we mean when we ask the Holy
Spirit to make us one? I know I often feel divided over various aspects of life. Perhaps I need to be made one in my
thoughts and actions, a wholeness of being with confident direction. Certainly, asking for guidance from the Holy
Spirit would help when I become conflicted. Looking for God's presence and peace to still the cacaphony of my own
thoughts and make sense out of them. The Lord our God is One and Him only shall you serve. Beloved Father, guide
me in service to you. May the peace of Christ and presence of the Holy Spirit fill us all. Amen.

I SEE THE LORD
9:40 am est
Seeing and knowing. I see God in all the beauty of the Earth,
the trees and grass, flowers and fruit, dogs and cats and all living creatures. Do I know God though? I ask this
of myself today being aware of how little time I have been spending in prayer, talking to and listening for God's
voice. When I take time to slow down from the rush and care of daily activities my heart is rewarded with a renewed
sense of peace. Yet, what does it mean to know God? Or to know anyone? I feel the trust issue sneaking in
here again. If you knew me would you still care about me? I hide so much from others and from myself too.
Perhaps some of you do as well. Pastor Gail is so joyous and open, yet I am not at a point of knowing her well.
Sometimes such openness frightens me and makes me feel my lack in that regard. Over the years I have slowly come
to know that God loves me as I am in any given moment and this knowledge helps me to accept myself and strengthens me to go
forward. May we all go forward in the knowledge of God's love for us. Let the peace of Christ surround you
in all that you do. Amen.
